Blue Sky is an NDIS physiotherapy provider for the Katherine Region .
Michael has worked as a remote physio in the Katherine region since 2003 and has a masters degree in Health Management . We are proud to provide a culturally safe environment for our Indigenous NDIS participants and in 2019 were nominated for the Enablement Award "The Most Outstanding Indigenous Care Provider in Australasia in 2019"
We work with Miliwanga Wurrben, a local Rembarrnga elder and traditional healer as our cross cultural consultant. Michael and Mili have worked and travelled together for 12 years.
With an established and strong reputation of 15 years we are a leading practice in Katherine. In our physio clinic we incorporate the best evidence-based practice with our unique holistic approach which recognises the whole person.
Blue Sky provides care for Indigenous elders at the Rocky Ridge Nursing Home and co-ordinate the "Healthy Body-Healthy Mind" program for families at the Katherine Women's Crisis Centre. Blue Sky Therapies has coordinated community development projects as well as a visiting physiotherapy service to elders and people with disabilities in remote Aboriginal communities.
Over the last 12 years Blue Sky Therapies has funded independent Autism Research.
This includes individual therapeutic work , training and consulting for schools and therapy centres for children with special needs. In March 2017 we were invited to New York University to present 10 yrs of autism research - and In Feb 2018 a book was published which describes this work for parents titled Autism : Meet me who I am
Michael is also a qualified TaKeTiNa Rhythm teacher and offers workshops regularly in this meditative and deeply embodying movement form. TaKeTiNa has undergone research in Europe demonstrating an ability to improve chronic pain states. As a musician he worked with the late Tom E Lewis on his 2016 debut Sunshine after Rain and was a collaborator with Arnhem Land Songmen at the fisrt Walking with Spirits festivals from 2004 in Beswick, NT
From 2015, we were asked to support a 'Steiner inspired' approach for infants and children in remote NT Indigenous community creches.
