Blue Sky is a Registered NDIS physiotherapy provider based in Katherine NT.
We have worked in remote physiotherapy in the Katherine region since 2003.
Principal physiotherapist Michael Kokinos was a appointed by the Minister as a member of the NTG Disability Advisory Council in 2004. Michael has a masters degree in Health Management in the context of remote Indigenous health in the Northern Territory.
We are proud to provide a culturally safe environment for our Indigenous NDIS participants and in 2019 were nominated for the Enablement Award "The Most Outstanding Indigenous Care Provider in Australasia in 2019"
Full time physiotherapist Johanna Hampson is a highly skilled Physiotherapist as well as a registered teacher and has been a regular visitor to the NT since 2012.
We have worked with Miliwanga Wurrben, a local Rembarrnga elder as our cross cultural consultant. Michael and Mili have worked and travelled together for 15 years.
Blue Sky has provided care for Indigenous elders at the Rocky Ridge Nursing Home and co-ordinates the "Healthy Body-Healthy Mind" program for families at the Katherine Women's Crisis Centre. Blue Sky Therapies has coordinated community development projects as well as a visiting physiotherapy service to elders and people with disabilities in remote Aboriginal communities.
As a musician Michael worked with the late Balang Lewis on his 2016 debut Sunshine after Rain and was a collaborator with Arnhem Land Songmen at the first Walking with Spirits festivals from 2004 in Beswick, NT
