About Us 

Michael Kokinos, Senior Physiotherapist / Principal

​Michael is an author, international speaker and trainer on a variety of topics related to heath and wellbeing. His professional background is in physiotherapy and craniosacral work inspired by an holistic understanding of sensory perception and movement. He founded Blue Sky Therapies in 2006. Michael also works closely with families with a somatic approach to trauma rehabilitation at a crisis centre in Katherine and has been invited by local Aboriginal controlled medical organisations to work as a healer for their elders and health workers.

Michael has broad experience in cross-cultural encounter in education, health  and community development projects. He has worked closely with Arhnem Land Aboriginal communities and schools as well as in India, Nepal and the USA . Michael has held posts as a senior neurological physiotherapist and as an adviser to the Australian Government on health and disability programs in rural/remote areas. He holds a Masters of Remote Health Management from Flinders University's Centre for Remote Health in Alice Springs, NT. 

​Also a musician, Michael recorded with Tom E. Lewis and collaborated with senior Arnhem Land songmen to perform at the annual  'Walking with Spirits' festival.  He trained for 5 years to become a certified as a TaKeTiNa Rhythm facilitator, holding workshops internationally.

 Since 2007, Michael has made regular visits to support families affected by autism as well as a number of schools to develop a ‘health promoting’ approach. Annually in India and Australia, Michael works as a faculty member teaching the medical aspect of the Steiner school curriculum and community development with a focus on organizational health, resilience and wellness. In 2018 he was a keynote speaker in WECAN conferences in the USA.  in 2019 he delivered a keynote lecture at the Goetheanum IASWECE Kindergarten conference  . Michael has had a deep interest in Anthroposophical Medicine and Steiner Education since working in curative education at Inala in Sydney in 1998. In 2015, Michael was certified as an Anthroposophic Physiotherapist at the Goetheanum, Switzerland. He is a founding member of the IAN-CST ( Intenational Anthroposphic Network for Cranio-Sacral Therapy)  with over 100 members and growing.


Cultural Advisor :  Miliwanga Wurrben : Elder, Artist, Educator ,Traditional Healer

Mili is a traditional Rembarrgna woman from Central Arnhem Land. Miliwanga speaks eight languages and is a gifted presenter and educator on cultural awareness, traditional medicine/healing and Aboriginal sprituality. She is regularly invited to speak at conferences and forums and has facilitated workshops with Amnesty International and Oxfam relating to the UN Declarations for Indigenous Peoples of the World. Miliwanga also a visual artist, weaver, cultural advisor and qualified librarian with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Linguistics. Miliwanga and Michael first met in 2003 and often travel together as healers and manage to combine traditional Indigenous healing methodologies with modern western approaches.


Johanna Hampson, Physiotherapist

 Jo Hampson graduated from Physiotherapy over 20 years ago with the Australian Physiotherapy Prize for Highest Standards of Clinical Practice. With a solid grounding in public health and orthopaedics, Jo aquired qualifications in soft tissue therapies, including fascial release, craniosacral therapy, remedial and Chinese massage, enriching and improving treatments. She has worked with postural specialists and sports clinicians. Hands on skills are her specialty for the person with a niggling complaint or severe pain. She has worked in sports, family and Indigenous health across Australia, with a wide range of ages and injuries and works best with the ordinary person, who never turns out to be ordinary.
Jo first came up to Katherine to work at Blue Sky Therapies in 2012 and has made a number of visits as a locum Physio.

Patron - Dr Basil Williams , Anthroposophic Physician, Osteopath

Dr Basil Williams lives in New York State, USA. He is and Osteopathic Physician , board certified in Anthroposophic medicine and a practitioner of Biodynamic Osteopathy in the Cranial Field. He teaches this work and is a member of the Cranial Academy. Michael and Basil spent 10 days together in intensive training during July 2015 and 2017.
